The 30th Anniversary production of Treehouse Players' Rapunzel

NOLA Voice Theatre is proud to bring this home-grown New Orleans family musical back to the city for it's thirtieth anniversary! Treehouse Players' Rapunzel premiered at the old True Brew Theatre in 1993, becoming an instant hit and playing venues across New Orleans for three years before being chosen by Americorps to be the flagship production of a tour of the Deep Southern states. Since then, audiences around the country have been enchanted by this hilarious musical with the big heart, including successful productions in New York City and Los Angeles.
Set in Holland, it tells the story of chocolatier, wicked witch and society maven Maude, who has her eye on a young bricklayer and his wife, who are about to have a child. Through "perfectly legal" means, she takes their newborn daughter and hides her away in an enchanted windmill where only the pure of heart can see her. Eighteen years later, enter The Prince, running away from his royal duties, followed closely by his best friend and right-hand man, Harold. 
With book & lyrics by Vatican Lokey, music & score by Brent Crayon, and additional material by Edward R. Cox, Treehouse Players Rapunzel is a delightful family musical that really is for the whole family! Critics and fans of the show have likened it to being inside an animated cartoon.
Starring original cast members Ashley Smetherman as Maude and Vatican Lokey as Harold, the show also features some of the brightest talents in New Orleans theatre today! Maria Hefte and Stephen Denning are Mary and Eric, the parents, young comic actor Brandon Marquez is The Prince, and the lovely Kelly Laines plays Rapunzel. The entire production is directed and designed by Edward R. Cox.
Treehouse Players Rapunzel opens Saturday, June 24th on the Lagniappe stage at Rivertown Theaters for the Performing Arts for a limited run of six performances only! June 24th & 25th, and July 8th & 9th.
